Faction Carnival 2026

The 2026 faction carnival has now been and gone, and it delivered a full day of competition that had a bit of everything, with plenty more still to come this term.
The day started in tough conditions, with a cold wind cutting across the track during the morning sprints. It made things challenging early, but the students got on with it and there were still some strong performances across the 200m, 100m, 80m and 50m races. By the time recess arrived, the weather had turned, the sun came out and it set up a much better run for the rest of the carnival.
The tabloid events through the middle of the day kept the pressure on, with pass ball, leader ball, flag race and the novelty events all playing their part. The points stayed tight, with every faction still in the mix heading into the final events.
After lunch, the relays lifted the atmosphere again. The faction relays and grand relay brought plenty of energy, with close finishes and strong support from the sidelines as the final points were decided.
At the end of the day, Gold finished first, followed by Blue in second, Red in third and Green in fourth. Red’s run of wins stretching back to 2017 came to an end, which shows just how even the competition has become.
With both interschool jumps and throws and interschool athletics still to come, the focus now shifts to preparing our selected students to represent the school.
It was great to see the way students approached the day, getting involved and backing their factions. A big thank you to all staff for the work that goes into making the carnival run smoothly, and to the P + C for their continued support in helping make the day what it is.
