SCIENCE

In Term One, students in Year 4 learned about weathering and how abrasion works. We investigated this using sugar cubes. Students placed sugar cubes into a container and shook it for a minute, and then compared it to sugar cubes that were fully intact. This investigation showed students how rocks weather over time.

In Term One, four Year 6 students participated in the Synergy Schools Solar Challenge at St Mark’s Anglican Community School. The students had one hour to build a solar powered car, and race it against students from schools around Perth.

In Term Two, Students in Year 5 investigated how gas takes up space, just like other states of matter such as liquids and solids. They investigated this using the “Tissues in a cup” experiment.
